The Red Pepper Farm Family

Coffee in the garden…a night away…an intimate event with friends…the first day of your life together.

The Farm property has deep roots entwined in the fabric of the Carolina Piedmont. Nestled in the Silk Hope area of Chatham County, the land is a sanctuary in the midst of a growing community. Connection to the past is in every ancient tree, the old wagon path through the woods, and in the old Home Place, called “The Wedding House” because of the wedding dresses that two sisters made here.

Though Whitney was born just up the road in Halifax County to millworker family, she and Bob only moved back in 2010, with a young family of their own. They lived on the property for almost 10 years before finally purchasing the farm in 2018. With a cohousing background (Whitney) and mad construction skills (Bob), they began renovations of the structures.

Today, the property is not only home to the Schmidt family, but also hosts families and friends and groups in a variety of ways, whether in the Air BnB Tiny House, the front field camping under the stars (the fireflies here are amazing!), or at an intimate wedding or farm to table dinner. We welcome visitors by appointment.

We are fortunate to be gifted with caretaking this piece of earth, and are excited to share it with you.

At Red Pepper Farm we can provide a place for your special party, farm dinner, wedding ceremony (and reception!), night away, kid’s campout, photo shoot, and kid’s birthday party (complete with horse guests if you’d like!). We aren’t stuffy or very formal, and offer a “farm classy” atmosphere that doesn’t take itself too seriously, while providing you and your guests the foundation for a memorable day.

Come for a visit for a few hours or for a night - we’d love to meet you!
